Little Syndicate Rods for 2018

Hi Folks I am looking for a handful of nice fly anglers to fill up our “Little Syndicate” for this year.

The Little Syndicate 2018 – NOW FULL FOR 2018

The Little Syndicate will be limited to twenty anglers this 2018 season, each paying an annual subscription of £200.00, due in January, which allows unlimited fishing on all of the Little Syndicate’s rather lovely waters.

Four lovely beats on three very different little rivers, a year’s fishing including fabulous Mayfly hatches and winter Grayling fishing.

Brown Trout fishing 1st April to 15th October
Grayling fishing 16th June to 14th March

River Frome – Lower Wraxall Brook

*New beat from 2017  (ST 57705 00859)  Wild Brown Trout

The Little syndicate has exclusive use of a mile of the Wraxall Brook, which is a small tributary of the River Frome in the depths of this beautiful county. This is true Lilliput fishing for stunning wild brown trout amongst its tiny riffles, fallen trees, pocket water and larger pools which makes it ideal for ultra-light tackle, even Tenkara.

River Frome – Watery Beats  (SY 76750 91285) Wild Brown Trout and Grayling

This is a carrier, locally known as the “North Stream” only a couple of miles downstream of our Dairy House in West Stafford near Tincleton.

We have the true left bank upstream of the bridge for two fields and the true left bank downstream of the lane for one field, a total of just under half a mile of wild fishing.

You will need to wade these beats and it is ideal for a few hours fishing in search of a large Grayling or a wild Brown Trout. (I do let a very occasional house ticket)

River Piddle – Ilsington Park

*New beat from 2017  (SY 75795 94570) Wild Brown Trout

On the upper Piddle, another one of Dorset’s stunning chalk streams, at Puddletown, behind old metal gates and a walled garden, flowing through stunning parkland, about 850 m of fishing on the true right bank.

The Dairy House Carrier  (SY 73366 90195)  Wild Brown Trout and Grayling

This is another classic piece of wild Chalk Stream fishing, a field away from our famous “Home Beat” another half a mile of fishing, Grayling and Trout..  We do have the occasional house guest on this beat.

This will also allow you one day on our “Home Beat” to suit… Wild Brown Trout and Grayling

This is a rather special syndicate with lovely people passionate about their wild fishing…  We also have at least one work party on our beats, a great way to meet other members and to learn a little bit about “River Keeping”.

During the 2017 season several Grayling over the magical 3lb were caught along with a rather special Brown Trout of over 4lbs.

Three pound Grayling

The big Grayling on the Frome this winter have been tough…..  But those who have put in a little time have been rewarded with some truly great fish, we have had a number of Grayling to well over that magical three pound mark from this part of the world… Including this great fish for our friend Rich Hart , carefully guided by Alex Jardine….

A busy start to the year…

January and February are usually fairly steady months work wise for us at http://www.casterbridgefisheries.co.uk  this year our feet have barely touched the ground, a full redd count of the Frome catchment, walkover surveys, lots of fencing and preparation work for our beloved DFC   Guiding and fishing holidays are flying…… www.chalkstreamflyfishing.co.uk   Not forgetting the http://dorsetchalkstreams.co.uk/  which is now into its 5th winter…  Check out the next social and come along…..

A handful of pictures as a taster of what we all get up to here in the Frome Valley, come and join us, its FUN…..  🙂

A bit more Frome fun…

We have been having a little fun along the way, and possibly one of the most hectic Januarys on record….

The DFC grayling social, a great write up with Kris Kent and John Grindle in Total Flyfisher, then a day with Dominic Garnett and Neil Keep prepping an article about the history of the famous DFC for FF & FT…

Fishing !

Following an amazing night at the Chalkstream Club, Glen Pointon (living the dream fly fishing blog,  team wychwood game rivers, Haddon estate Wye fly fishing guide), Phil Ratcliffe (GAIA, FFF, pro guide), Scott Webster (big game stalker), Mark Brando (river/game keeper) and Tim Roberts (Islay Scottish Loch’s)….  As the gang were staying with us over the weekend fishing it seemed rather obvious that they should sample some of our Frome valley hospitality…

A huge thank you to John Grindle, Richard Miller and Trev Stroud for spending Saturday fishing with three of the guy’s on the DFC water, they simply loved the fishing and of course your company….

They had an amazing couple of days fishing on various “Frome” beats…  I think the smile on Henry’s face sums it all up nicely…

I have grabbed a few pictures from the weekend, Glen I know is writing a blog  and I will include a link to that later when it is published…  A credit to Glen for some great pictures…  Here it is….  https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1144435214
