Emerging contaminants in the water environment: A perspective from the water industry.

Bio for Dorset Chalkstreams presentation

Megan Roberson completed her Master’s degree in River Science in 2019 and immediately started her career at Wessex Water in August as an Assistant Environmental Scientist. Her role is focussed on the delivery of the Chemical Investigations Programme (CIP), within the Environmental Investigation team. The CIP is a national programme of wastewater investigations in response to emerging legislation on chemicals in the water environment.

Megan’s talk will provide some background to the Chemical Investigations Programme and focus on some of the results from CIP Phase 2 which ran from 2015-2020. She will then introduce some of the more targeted investigations covered in CIP Phase 3 (2020-2025) on emerging contaminants in the environment, including anti-microbial resistance and microplastics.

There will also be a post supper screening of a short film made by Richard Miller and John Thorpe on last years New Zealand trip.
