Winter Piking

John and I headed to a stunning little bit of the Dorset Stour today, in search of a Pike on the Fly, both of us have been fishing for a year or two now (between us over 80 years of fishing…) and firsts are very exciting…. John had his first Pike on the fly last week, and I am still trying, we both came close today, I had a fish of double figures go airborne as it hit my fly, came off but frightened the life out of me… John had one inhale his fly under his rod top but forgot to strike….

Today was seriously warm and the trees are hanging on to their leaves, it was like a beautiful autumn day… (Oh please don’t forget this beat is free for folks staying in our Annexe..)
