In stream work continues

We did our pre enhancement electric fishing survey last week, and this week we began on the DWT Mill Stream project in Dorchester town centre.

The first phase was to drive over 400 chestnut posts into the bed of the river to make the framework of the bunds that will form the much needed narrowing and meandering of this fairly featureless neglected piece of semi urban chalkstream.

Saftey and education is important on this site, as it is open to the public 24 hours a day, our staff and the DWT team are working in stream and at the same time the banksmen are doing a great job educating the general public in wetland conservation work.
