Great weekends guiding

Last weekend John and I guided for one of the nicest bunch of fly fishermen, five in total that just wanted a fab time in Dorset….. We put a great program together, the weather to a degree was against us but we managed to pull most of it off…

Saturday we were based on our “Home Beat” the day started with a short introduction on “Chalk Stream Fishing” then we all headed off to fish, the sun came out, there was a little flurry of up wings and all of the group caught their first “Wild Chalk Stream Brown Trout” by lunch……. All on “Dry Flies”….. Smiles all round….  A seriously smart lunch for our guests, lots fine wine and a well-earned break, food ideas at http://www.westdorsetfoodie.co.uk/.

The afternoon was a little more difficult, but spirits were raised with a good spread of local cheese, a bottle of red and a roaring fire by the fishing hut….

Sunday morning and John and I were off early to meet our group for a day’s fishing with  http://www.silverspraycharters.com/ out of Poole, I have to say that Andy is a top skipper and it was one of those rare trips where I can say the bites and fish came at a steady rate throughout the day and the guy’s caught lots of Black Bream and some good Plaice…

Top marks to John for his rather effective Bream rigs, and to Skipper Andy for his Plaice rigs… I just spent the day baiting up and un hooking people’s fish…..  A great weekend with great people and a massive thanks to all involved…
