Flaming June

What a cracking month June was, superb weather, amazing Mayfly hatches and tales of lot’s of people catching fish, Trout, Bass, summer Cod and even the odd Salmon, released of course!

We are into July now, and post Mayfly we depend on our smaller up winged flies such as the Blue Winged Olive to allow us to continue our chalk stream fishing on through the summer.

Last week we finished repairing a leaky dam on a small lake, a tough week that all came good, the leaks stopped and now it will top up with spring water to it’s required level.
We worked on late to get the job finished……

I did manage to catch up with an old friend at Ringstead one evening and we fished in lots of weed at low water on a neap……….We did see the odd small Mullet working through the weed on a very hot muggy evening.

We need to be here in another 4 hours, but who cares…….

The weather is a little cooler now, nearly finished in the office, then off Tench fishing!
