With no one booked on our “North Stream” beat, Elliot and I decided a few hours fishing would be in order… A biting south easterly greeted us as we carefully fished our way up the beat. There were one or two Large Dark Olive’s hatching but we were struggling to find any fish!
Just when talk of a hot drink was starting to become the best option Elliot spotted a good fish rise. I missed seeing it, and he pointed it out. We could just make it out. It was on the fin and looking for food.
I covered it a couple of times with a small “Klinkhammer” and it did not move. I changed to one of “Harry’s” Large Dark Olive patterns and missed it second cast…. I covered it a few more times which resulted in a classic dry fly take from this stunning wild fish…Cheers Elliot 🙂 www.chalkstreamflyfishing.co.uk
