We are rather excited to be now running the “Bhompston Fly Fishers”, a rather lovely syndicate on the Frome a short cast down stream of Lower Bockhampton bridge, set deep in Thomas Hardy country…
Seriously excited as this is a massive blank canvas as far as chalk stream restoration goes, never really had any work carried out since the land drainage dept got hold of it in the late 60s and the fishing as long as I can remember, restricted from April to September….
This is a long term project, we aim to improve the wild trout habitat, the Grayling habitat in places is rather special and for the first time EVER, fishing will be extended throughout the winter months, I am not going to lie, the fishing can be tough, the valley is beautiful, good for the soul and there is a chance of a fish of a lifetime, if you have time….
Brown Trout – 1st Aprl to 14th October
Grayling – 16th June to 14th March
For this year at least I am keeping it within the tradtion of the old syndicate, some light stocking, you can keep one for supper…

A great little film made by Simon Ward about his season at Bhompston.
