Just back from a weeks flyfishing in Norway fishing the River Trysil. The trip was organised by Keith Wallington (read his blog on the trip here) through Ole Bjerke who’s website has many mouth watering destinations in Norway

What an amazing trip, everything went smoothly, the self catering cabin was superb (dish washer!), cost of food wasn’t too scary, but the cost of beer meant you enjoyed every mouth full! Anders is the owner of the fishing, who was hugely friendly and helpful.

We had 6km of river for the five of us to fish and grayling was our main quarry. The fly hatches meant we caught the majority on dries. We also fished a 2km lake on one windy day for pike and another smaller pond (both included in the price) for prehistoric brown trout!

If you like truly wild fishing for grayling and the odd trout in amazing wild scenery Norway is the place for you!

‘Fishing for Life’ is an organization which provides fly fishing sessions for people who all have one thing in common – breast cancer. The Dorset Branch holds meetings every month at Wrackleford Estate during the fly fishing season and West Bay at other times.  At these sessions they are  able to learn to fly fish under the supervision of qualified coaches.  Please go to for more information on the organization.

This is our first fundraising event in Dorset that will allow us to provide these sessions free of charge to the participant.   As well as learning to fly fish, knot tying, entomology, fly tying and conservation are all included in the program and each morning’s session is concluded with a buffet lunch.

We are raising the funds to pay for venue hire and equipment.  I am very grateful to the coaches who give of their time freely and provide such a wealth of knowledge.

Please let me know if you would like to come along.
