Rivers and
Streams, like any other water way can present its own set of unique
problems and over the years we have come up with many solutions to aid
the improvement of river fisheries, in particular Chalk streams.
Advisory visits
We can arrange a site visit to meet you and your fishery, to discuss
initial problems and any concerns that you may have, to recommend
improvements to be made, and if requested produce a report for your
future use.
Habitat Improvement
A larger project, may be introducing gravel spawning riffles, and bank
re- profiling, we can act as project managers, from design to
completion.
Maintenance Contracts
We operate several maintenance contracts on various fisheries from daily
to monthly visits, ensuring that your fishing is managed to a high
standard so you and your anglers can spend more time fishing, all
contracts individually tailor made to suit your fishery.
Traditional River keeping service
We can offer a fully traditional service, including maintenance, guides
and bank side lunches you only have to ask.
Stream narrowing
Problems with over wide stretches will result in a poor eco system, loss
of vital habitat, low flow rates, and excess siltation of any spawning
riffles, we have employed various soft engineering techniques to
naturally narrow the river squeezing the current, with great results.
Gravel Washing
We spend a certain amount of time, pre Salmonid spawning, jet washing
areas of rivers where Salmon and Trout spawn, jet washing removes silt
from the gravel which starves the eggs from oxygenated water, resulting
in dead eggs, not good, results now speak for themselves, large numbers
of redds on cleaned gravel wherever we go.
Soft bank revetment
We use live Willow for nearly all of our river bank revetment, in our
opinion it secures long term stability, creates its own environmental
benefits, and creates a product that can be harvested for further works
when required.
And I will say it looks fantastic when done properly, especially if your
house has river frontage.
Hatchery Boxes
A great way to introduce nearly wild fish into your fishery. We have
run these boxes for several years on various beats, including some where
the fishing has been particularly poor, in conjunction with a little
habitat
improvement, these beats have now produced naturally seeded Brown Trout
to over 6 pounds.
Weed Cutting
We can offer a traditional hand weed cut, including removal,
remember just how selective you can be, clearing your favourite spot
under that tree, yet leaving a bar to hold back that much needed water.
Strimming and Mowing
You can make your fishery look really smart, spending a little time
having a whip round with a strimmer, if you are struggling to find the
time we can help.
Stocking advice
We can advise you on all your stocking requirements.
Tree clearing and planting
We offer a tree felling and planting service, using fully qualified
operatives.
Environment Agency consents
We can take care of all the necessary consents; plans and drawings
required for any of our clients projects.
