Sea Trout

We actually managed to fish our beat on the Piddle this afternoon, John G had some fun with the Brown Trout, but we were all seriously excited to see Ian catch a great Sea Trout and then to have a Salmon follow….. The magic of Chalk Stream fishing here in Dorset.

Deer on the casting lawn

Another stunning morning here in the Frome valley, while chatting to the farmer at home, this young stag trotted out of the woods for a casting lesson..

And to finish the day, our evening ticket angler caught his biggest ever chalk stream fish of nearly three pounds on a midge pattern… Chalk Stream Dreams!

Annexe Holidays in Dorset

Due to a very last minute cancellation we now have our delightful self catering Annexe (with optional fly fishing) available from the 12th  August through to 22nd August and for a few other dates during September

Self Catering Annexe, close to the Frome.

Erosion control

Our Casterbridge Fisheries Team (a massive thank you to Elliot and Kevin) over the last few days have carried out a great project on the upper Piddle for a private client, rectifying a fairly serious amount of erosion caused by last winters flooding to the garden.

We were able to reclaim the washed away river bank while creating some great habitat for the native White Clawed Crayfish and juvenile Brown Trout.

If you have any flood damage why no contact

Thank you to the Blandford office of the Environment Agency for all their help with the flood defence consent..

Two more last night

Luck does come along from time to time, I ventured over to the river late last night and caught two stunning 2lb + wild fish, one on a Sedge (seriously lucky cast under lots of trailing Willow) and the other on a Midge after it refused to look at a Sedge… (Same fish two nights on the trot, how often does that happen?)
