Early Bass

We were blessed with calm conditions as we traversed many miles of Dorsets stunning coastline in the search of an early Bass today…. The quest will continue!

The day after

Two visiting anglers arrived early, the morning after our long lunch by the fishing hut, we chatted over coffee and I explained that lunch had overtaken any thought of fishing (apart from Charles catching one) and off they went across the water meadows in search of a Grayling on a beautiful sunny morning.

I then headed upstream of the village to the DFC fishing to chat with anglers on the beat there, and got to photograph a large fish in the sun, what a morning this was, and all in warm spring like weather!

Back home and I wondered over to the river to be greeted by two very happy fishermen who had both caught their biggest Grayling, the fishing is not for the faint hearted, crystal clear water and very wild fish…..

Celebrating the Grayling and the River Frome

“Living the Dream” can be the only way to describe living and working in the Frome valley, the fabulous people and organisations that work alongside each other, on one of the finest Chalk Streams in southern England!

Over the last decade we have been honoured to meet some of the greatest names in the modern fly fishing world….

Please Ladies and Gentlemen, pour yourselves a glass of your favorite tipple and read John Grindles account of our “Grayling Luncheon” It is a classic and will go down in angling history…..

Fishing with friends

Yesterday was spent with friends celebrating the Grayling and the Frome, some of us fished for a bit, all of us laughed and spent time just staring into the water absorbing this chalk river magic, or chalkstream dreams as we call it here in Dorset!

We celebrated in style at the fishing hut on the “Home Beat” with a serious lunch of many courses, some rather fine wine and a large warming fire.

There will be more on this story as soon as all the photography is all sorted out, the menu and the characters involved….  We have people on the Home Beat today and I am just off to the DFC fishing for a natter with their fishermen….
