At last after some most welcome rain our beats have had a good freshen up and the Grayling seem to be spreading out which is great news for our autumn and winter fishing.

Dorsets smaller chalk streams

We have been seriously busy over the last few weeks helping out with the Dorset Wildlife Trust on some of their awesome chalk stream projects, these projects have been delivered under the “Dorset Wild Rivers” and I know thanks should go to the DWT and importantly the EA for part funding some of this work.

The Casterbridge Fisheries team are very proud to be involved in this very worthwhile conservation project.

With the daylight hours rapidly shrinking as autumn surrounds us we have been privilaged to see some great sunrises, sunsets and on one day a huge rainbow that ended in the stream we were working in…. A good sign I feel….

Grayling spotting

The light was just right for an hour of fish spotting on our “Home Beat” and in true Frome style there were a number of rather big fish showing….

Job satisfaction….

Every picture tells a story……  Chalkstream work…We love it…..

Dorsets stunning Chalk Streams

October has to be one of our busiest months, with all the in river projects to be completed by the end of the month……. And we have been working on some stunning reaches of the Frome catchment, not forgetting the Avon and a river in North Dorset.

Great enhancement projects for the Environment Agency and at the moment the Dorset Wildlife Trust, who under their “Dorset Wild Rivers” banner are delivering a huge amount of rather fine work on our Chalk Rivers.

Today we have many volunteers from both organisations out on a work party day, looking forward to it……..
